The artist

A refuge named art

Petrit was born in Albania in 1967, in a country where freedom, expression and opinion were imprisoned until 1989. From school years he remembers himself painting and sculpting scraps of wood into whatever shape he wanted. Through those small acts he spoke freely. Art was the refuge.

“Art is not a livelihood. It is expression, it is love, it is freedom, it is passion — feelings that come from the soul. It does not fit stereotypes and advice.”

Today, guided by heart, inspiration, imagination and a passion for life, he leaves his soul in his creations. He talks with them as if they were his children. Works travel to collectors worldwide from the studio at Chelmou 32, Agios Stefanos, Attica.

The project

Give breath

In August 2021 a fire burned thousands of acres of pine forest in Attica, including the vital lung of Mount Parnitha. Petrit had already been on the fire line with the Volunteers of Attica. Walking later among the ashes, he felt a need to be reborn from them.

That December he began filling the house with burnt logs. He sculpted the trunks and, with imagination, gave them life. The first personal exhibition waits at the completion of this cycle: to give breath back to what the fire took.

The long road to the studio

1967

Albania

Born 4 October 1967. A self-taught painter and woodcarver. Albanian mother tongue; Greek and Italian spoken very well.

1990–92

Artistic inscriptions

Painting and creation of professional signs and shop fronts. Later certified with the Albanian Chamber of Fine Arts (DPPI202212161739487435918).

1997—

Collector of the Renaissance

A private collection of paintings dating from the 16th–19th centuries, gathered over decades in European art markets.

2015–16

Atelier Tasos Lampropoulos

Collaborated with the painter Tasso, creating copies of his paintings — including the works that framed the private wedding of Naomi Campbell with an Egyptian sheikh in a villa on Santorini.

2021—

Artist, painter, woodcarver

Full devotion to original work. Volunteer firefighter and member of Volunteers of Attica. Preparing the first personal exhibition of the Give Breath cycle.
